Vail's Fleischer family takes over ski area operations, in Iowa

Citing a desire to "bring some of the outdoor amenities that Colorado is known for and bring them here to this town," Mt. Crescent Ski Resort opened near Omaha last week with management that has seen the extremes of resort extravagance.
Owners Corby and Samantha Fleischer - whose brother Chad is a former Olympian - will operate the 300-foot vertical, two lift area just 15 minutes north of the city. Mt. Crescent sits near the IA-NE border.
The story has hit several major networks including MSNBC, and even in the face of a tight economy, Crescent offers a real opportunity for families of all income levels. A recent snow day for the Omaha school district was a huge PR benefit, and for new recruits, the area has also devoted 700 feet of terrain to the tubing hill.
Since the 70s, Crescent has hosted family ski outings, hang gliding, and concerts that included Manheim Steamroller, who we believe were huge, but we still don't have a clue who they were. We trust the first "amenity" the Fleischers plan to "bring from Colorado" will not be another Snoop Dogg concert..
